Repurposeing...Its a Family Thing!

First of all, I would like to say sorry that I haven't been keeping as up to date as I can on the blog (sometimes life gets in the way!) But now that I am back, I would like to tell you all a little story about my grandfather...

My grandfather is always in the garage working on a new project or fixing something, he loves to find objects and use them for something else that is useful! I guess thats where I got it from...looks like reusing and repurposeing runs in the family!

This past weekend, my husband and I went to Florida to visit them. We had a great time sun bathing, going to the zoo, going out to eat and enjoying every minute of it! It was fun to spend time with my grandparents! While I was looking around their condo, I came accross their storage closet and I took a peek inside and look what I found...good old grandpa using his reusing and repurposing skills again! He took a gallon water bottle, cut a hole in it and is using it to store his knick knacks, which to me it looks like he is getting a collection of wine corks. Once I saw the wine corks, I told him there were a lot of things that he can do with corks, such as make coasters, picture frames or a cork board!

We had a lot of fun exchanging ideas and it is good to know where I got my "skills"! Hope you enjoyed this post! Do you and your family reuse and repurpose together? Tell me about it!

Turn Old Dress Shirts Into Ties!

image from shirt-tie.com

On my way to work this morning, I was listening to Z100 and heard the "Whats Trending". They had a great tip about taking old dress shirts that guys don't wear anymore and making them into ties and/or bowties! The company is called Shirt-Tie.com. If you don’t have a shirt to send in you can still purchase bowties and ties made from old dress shirts on their website.

They are also giving 15% off with code Disco2013!

Check out their website at www.shirt-tie.com. What a great way to reuse and repurpose!

Beauty Tips for Vaseline

Vaseline is great and can be reused in different ways. Check out these 5 ways tips. To see all of them, go to the website below. You might be surprised of all of the things Vaseline can do for you.

1. It makes your eyelashes grow:  Lather Vaseline all over your eyelashes overnight and watch them thicken, even without a prescription!

2. Soften dry and cracked elbows.

3. Dry cuticles: Store a mini-Vaseline container in your purse and use for emergency dry cuticle moments.

4. For kissable, luscious lips: Fall is a beast for drying out summery, dewy lips. Vaseline is there for you and your irresistible pout. You can also mix Vaseline with Kool-Aid powder and make a colored (and flavored) lip gloss.

5. Help your scent stick around: Softly rub Vaseline all over your perfume points (i.e. the cleavage, behind the ear, neck, and wrist) and your scent will last longer!

I found these great tips on a blog called My Thirty Spot.
